Withdrawal Tax (Finance Act 2025)
Kenya's Finance Act applies a 5% withholding tax on every withdrawal from betting platforms. This is deducted automatically before the money reaches your M-Pesa or Airtel Money wallet — you don't need to do anything.
There's also a separate 5% excise tax on deposits. So if you deposit KSh 1,000, only KSh 950 enters your Betika balance. Keep this in mind when planning your bankroll.
Withdrawal Not Going Through?
Here are the most common reasons your Betika withdrawal might be delayed or failing:
1. Account Not Verified
First-time withdrawals often require identity verification. Upload a clear selfie and your national ID in the Betika app under My Account → Verification. This can take up to 24 hours.
2. Phone Number Mismatch
Your M-Pesa or Airtel number must match the number registered on your Betika account. If they don't match, the withdrawal will be rejected.
3. Below Minimum Amount
You need at least KSh 50 in your account to withdraw. If your balance is lower, place a small bet and try to build it up.
4. Night-Time Limits
Between midnight and 6 AM, the daily maximum drops to KSh 10,000. If you're trying to withdraw more, wait until after 6 AM.
5. M-Pesa System Downtime
Sometimes Safaricom's M-Pesa system is down for maintenance. Your withdrawal will queue and process once the system is back — usually within a few hours.
6. Multiple Accounts Flagged
If Betika detects multiple accounts using the same ID, withdrawals may be paused. Contact support to resolve this.

Why was my withdrawal reversed?
Common reasons: phone number mismatch, account flagged for verification, insufficient balance after fees and tax deduction, or suspected multiple accounts. Check your Betika account notifications and contact support if needed.
